Mas des Hirondelles means Flock of Swallows and that is exactly what you are often able to see at sunset on the terrace of our beautiful home. Often mistaken for bats, these beautiful birds spin and swirl against the backdrop of the sunset behind the Pyrénéan mountain vista and provide an entertaining and beautiful sight as you sup your sundowners.
Enticing, we know! And that’s why we decided to open up our home and share this beautiful experience with you. Mas des Hirondelles is built to a superior standard. Our stunning villa with all the amenities you could wish for, enjoys a wonderful location 600m high in the foothills of the Pyrénées, close to a charming picturesque village called Salles Argeles.
The magical views of the Pyrénées makes Mas des Hirondelles quite unique. Our house is set in 3000 sqm of grounds consisting of sloping grassy gardens at the heart of a small village. There is a vast terrace with an electric awning at ground level, ideal for outdoor meals, and a further terrace around the heated swimming pool with an outdoor shower on a lower level; both enjoy fantastic views. There are other properties close by but the house, pool and terraces remain very private and are not overlooked.
A friend of our daughter’s, a talented interior designer has beautifully decorated the interior with quality furniture and many charming touches. Attention has been paid to every detail in each room, and each bedroom has its own bathroom facilities.
We have grown up children and smaller grandchildren, and every year we enjoy the comfort that Mas des Hirondelles offers us all. It is in fact the highlight of our year! Our home sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms so is small enough to house family and friends, but big enough to hide away when desired. It’s an ideal place for families with children and also for groups of adults who want to relax, as well as participate in the many sports available in the area. The gym, pool and steam room keep the active types happy, while the cinema, relaxation room and library keeps the more sedentary nicely occupied! It’s a hard decision to know what to do first, but made all the more easier by the fresh salmon pink rosé in hand!
